preschool

Jay survived his first day of preschool. He was so nervous and kept telling me he wasn't going. But, he was a brave boy went anyway. When I picked him up he was all smiles. Success! His teacher is great and I think he'll have lots of fun this year.

Here's what Rex has been up to...yikes!

Tennis, anyone?

Jay is taking tennis lessons and he really loves it. He has learned how to do volley, forehand, and backhand shots.

He is also a great reader. Our library had a summer reading program and Jay read 45 books on his own. He got a gift certificate for a free kids meal at Joes Crab Shack as a reward for reading so many books!

Jay also just got a cool new bunk bed. He sleeps on the top bunk and his stuffed animals sleep on the bottom bunk.

T-Rex

A few days ago Rex fell out of the shopping cart at Target and landed on his head (at least that's what Lindsay told Child Protective Services). He got a nice little goose egg on his forehead and ended up with a shiner.

The good news is that his little injury hasn't slowed him down a bit. He is obsessed with any sport involving a ball, and he loves bowling, baseball, and golf. He is always throwing balls and swinging any kind of a stick.

All About Jay

Jay has been wanting his own blog post and I've been promising him I'd do an "All About Jay" blog. So, Jayboy, this one is for you.

Jay is 4 1/2 years old and he has always been a big boy. He wears size 6 clothes.

Jay is really smart, and he already knows how to read and write, even though he won't start pre-school until this fall. He writes his own stories, and even wrote a "My Life History" after seeing Grandpa Buttterfield's book with the same title.

Jay loves playing Wii, and his high score in Wii Bowling is 210. And, his Mii has a moustache that looks really cool. We play Wii together almost every night.

Jay's favorite color is blue, and his favorite cartoon is Spongebob Squarepants. I think he would watch Spongebob all day long if we let him.

Jay knows virtually all of the roads in Las Vegas. Once, we were driving on the opposite end of town from where we live (to a place we hadn't been in months) and Jay said "My favorite road is Sir Williams Court." I didn't know what he was talking about until about 2 minutes later when we came upon a road called, you guessed it, Sir Williams Court. He also loves to look at maps and he picks out all of the roads he knows on the map.

Jay loves to fight, and always wants to play boxing or karate. It usually ends in tears.

Jay wants to be a garbage man when he grows up.

Jay loves to cook, and he turned our kitchen into a restaurant called "Jay's Old Mondays." He even posted a sign and menu on our cabinets. You can order a "penut butter and salt and pepar cracr sanwich" if that's your thing.

Jay recently learned how to turn his eyelids inside out (as seen above).

Jay is a good big brother, and he loves playing with Rex.

Jay is our little buddy and we couldn't ask for a better son. Jay, we love you lots!

Happy Easter

We had a fun Easter. The kids ate buckets of candy and Jay actually spit out the last of a Cadbury Egg (or "cream ball" as he called it) because he had a belly ache. We colored eggs and had a little Easter egg hunt in our backyard.

Fun Home Videos

Gwenny sent Jay a little video camera the other day so we took a couple of fun videos that we wanted to share with all of you. The quality isn't great and the sound is pretty scratchy, but they're fun anyway. The first video is of Jay being a daredevil and the second video is Rex giving Jay some cute hugs. Enjoy!

St. George Fun

We had a fun weekend in St. George with Milo and Amy. Milo and I played 18 holes, Lindsay and Amy went shopping, and the kids got to practice their golf swings. We hope you enjoy these pictures from our trip.

Happy Big 27 Lindsay

Lindsay is officially old. As many of you know, I have a theory that 27 is the official "over the hill" age. 20 through 23 is early 20's; 24 through 26 is mid 20's; but 27 is officially late 20's. We had a fun birthday celebration spread over the past few days. Friday night we went to the Cheesecake Factory and gained a few pounds, followed by a lame movie called Push. Sunday I made a pork tenderloin with grilled zucchini and spring onions, and key lime bars for dessert. Tonight we opened presents and had delicious cake. I got Lindsay a red velvet bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Expensive, but definitely worth it. Anyway, I'm kind of relieved that Lindsay has finally joined me in the old age club. It felt kind of funny to have a hot young wife while I was just old and fat. Now I have a hot old wife.

Not Cool.

I bragged to some of you about the $85 suit I "bought" a couple of days ago on Jos. A. Bank's online clearance sale. I was feeling pretty good about myself until I checked my email this morning and was rudely informed that my suit was sold out and that I was welcome to buy a different one on the website. Unfortunately, the suit I "bought" was the only color I wanted so I won't be getting a new suit after all.

On an unrelated note, the other day Lindsay was talking to Jay about middle names, and she asked Jay if he knew who he got his middle name from. Of course Jay knows that he shares my middle name so he got the question right. Lindsay then asked Jay who we named Rex's middle name (Thomas) after. Without hesitation, Jay said "Thomas the train?" Funny guy.
