Trip to the zoo

We had a fun time hosting Thanksgiving. Too bad our camera batteries died and we only got a couple of pictures.

Today Lindsay and the kids went to the zoo with Lindsay's friend Amanda and her daughter Madie (Jay's gwerl friend). Too bad the Las Vegas zoo is so pathetic, but they had a good time anyway.

The last time we went to the zoo was September, 2006. I thought it would be fun to post a few pictures to show how much Jay has grown since then.

Funny stuff

Today, Jay was in the bathroom doing his constitutional duty (or is it doodie?), when he suddenly ran up the stairs with his pants around his ankles. With this background, the following exchange took place between Lindsay and Jay:

Lindsay: Where are you going?

Jay: I'm going to get the toilet thing.

Lindsay: What toilet thing?

Jay: The thing that gets the toilet unclogged.

Lindsay: Did you plug up the toilet???

Jay: Uh-huh

Lindsay: How much toilet paper did you put in???

Jay: Lots and lots.

Jay then confessed that he thought it would be cool to get the toilet clogged so he could use the plunger to un-clog it. Needless to say, Lindsay, rather than Jay, ended up un-clogging the toilet, pulling out handfuls of poopy toilet paper with plastic bags on her hands. Jay got the idea after Lumpy *ahem* kindly clogged and un-clogged our toilet on Thanksgiving.

The Two Dudes

Jay was riding in the car with Lindsay when he suddenly said "I want to make a stand!" Lindsay didn't really know what he was talking about, so he told her he wanted to make a stand to sell cookies. Later that day, Lindsay and Jay made some snickerdoodles and set up a "cookie stand" in front of the house. If you look closely at the sign on his table, it says "buy cookies 10 cents". He actually made about $2 at his cookie stand, although $1 was from the neighbors across the street. A bunch of kids even came back for seconds.

This is Rex's new trick. He has learned how to climb on top of the table from the chairs. I even got him to jump off the table to me after he saw Jay do it a couple of times.

Jay's 4th B-Day

Here are some pictures of Jay's birthday party and of him riding his Razor scooter that he got for his birthday. What a cool little dude.

Catching up

Rex hit the big number 1 last month. We had a fun party and let him eat some cake and get messy.

Funny stuff

The other morning, Jay told Lindsay that he had a dream that he flushed Rex down the toilet and he was sad because we didn't have a baby anymore. Apparently Jay had been watching an episode of Sponge Bob where someone got flushed down the toilet.

Answer to the word of the day

The answer to the word of the day is . . . urinal. Ok, I know it probably wasn't that tough to figure out, but Jay loves to say the word and has been a bit obsessed with bathrooms as of late. Funny thing though, he is deathly afraid of the automatically flushing urinals, especially if they flush loudly. Kyle's comment is in reference to something Jay said last Sunday in the boys bathroom at church. Jay was going on and on about how much he liked that bathroom, and he said "The girls bathroom is pretty, but the boys bathroom is handsome." I was laughing so hard I had to turn around so he wouldn't see me.

Word of the day

After a long hiatus, I have decided to bring back Jay's word of the day. The word is yooniral.

It's about time!!!

Gwenny was nice enough to email me these pictures I took with her camera of our new house.
This is the view as you walk in the front door.

Hopefully these pictures give you a good idea of what our house looks like. We're loving having the extra space and a yard to send Jay out to when we get sick of him!

Speaking of Jay, last night I was calling him "monkeybutt" and he responded by saying "butt is a bad word you dingleberry!" I laughed my head off. What a funny guy. Lately he has been turning into a superhero called "Magnet Man" who sticks to things like legs, refrigerator doors, regular doors, etc. He grabs onto the refrigerator door handles and pulls himself up, or he'll grab onto the door knob and will hang from it. He's a funny kid.

In other news, Rex is pretty much walking. He walks about as much as he crawls now, and will take 10+ steps at a time. And he has two top teeth in addition to the two bottom teeth he has had for a while.

Update and some stuff

Well, I haven't unpacked my usb cord yet so pictures of our new house will have to wait a while.

Lindsay and Jay were at the post office a few days ago when an old man midget walked in. Lindsay was worried that Jay would say something embarassing, and of course he didn't disappoint. Jay pointed and said "HEY -- that's a weird looking little boy!" True story.

Jay is also learning how to sound out words and he can sound out a lot of 3 letter words. He'll be reading before too long.

Rex is doing a lot of new stuff. He can crawl like crazy, he pulls himself up to stand, and he can climb up the stairs. In fact, before Lindsay knew Rex could climb the stairs, she left him alone in for a couple of minutes and when she came back, he had climbed halfway up the stairs! He also got his first tooth and his second is on the way in.

That's about it.

Two funny things

(1) A couple of nights ago we were eating dinner and Jay ran into the bathroom to do his business. He came out about a minute later and he said "I saw some bugs on the floor but I killed the bugs with my pee." That got my attention, so I went into the bathroom and there was pee all over the floor. He was so proud of himself that I couldn't very well get mad at him, but you can be sure that I made him clean it up!

(2) Tonight Jay asked us what "monch" means. Lindsay asked him what he meant, and he said "next time monch you sing with me." We couldn't convince him that monch isn't how the song is supposed to go.

"It's not working!!!"

Jay said something kind of funny the other night. He woke up screaming at about 3:30 a.m. so I went in to check on him and he was crying "It''s not working!!! It's not working!!!" I just figured he had been having a bad dream so I asked him what wasn't working and he held up his hand and said "My hand!!! My Hand isn't working." His hand had fallen asleep and wasn't "working" anymore.

One more pic (with a funny story)

I took this picture of Jay doing "Super Jay" today and it reminded me of a funny story. If it looks like Jay has a bald spot on the top of his head, it is because he gave himself a haircut a few days ago. Lindsay was doing her hair and Jay came in and told her that he had cut his hair. I guess it's not too smart to keep scissors out where curious boys can get to them. Plus, Lindsay had just given Rex his first haircut (also newsworthy, but forgotten until just now) the previous day.

Nothing Much

Well, not much has happened around here lately. I started my new job, and that is going pretty well so far. We are getting everything put together for our mortgage application and we are scheduled to close on our new house on April 18th. We're just starting to pack up all of our crap, so that will be the big project for the next couple of weeks.

Rex is getting close to crawling. He gets up on his hands and knees, but he scoots backwards. He also loves to eat paper, so we have to be careful about what is on the floor when he is on the loose. He is also learning how to pick up and eat puffy snacks.
