8 crazy years

It's hard to believe, but today is our 8th anniversary. It seems like just a little while ago we were sweating in the hot Arizona sun getting our pictures taken after our wedding. It has been a great eight years and I couldn't imagine my life without Lindsay. She is the perfect wife for me and I am so lucky to have tricked her into marrying me! Anyway, babe, this post is for you. Thanks for making me such a lucky guy and for being such a great wife and mom. I love you lots and look forward to many more years with you.

Eli Craig Butterfield

The newest addition to our family was born on April 23, 2010 at 11:07 a.m. He was 7 lbs, 3 oz, and 21.5 inches. He and Lindsay were both doing so well, they were discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon. Jay and Rex are both excited to have a new little brother around the house.

Springtime Fun

We've been having a lot of fun in the nice springtime weather. Jay's first T-Ball game is next week, and he had his team pictures last week. We had a fun Easter, and the Easter Bunny brought the boys a bunch of candy and toys. In other news, the new baby should be here in about 3 weeks. Hope you enjoy these photos!

Change is in the air

As some of you may already know, I (Chad) started a new job this past Monday. I am now working for a Las Vegas-based firm called The Cooper Castle Law Firm, where I will be practicing mortgage/lending law and real estate. The firm places an emphasis on work-life balance and s0 far the change has been very positive. In fact, on my first day, my supervising attorney came into my office at 5:00 p.m. and basically kicked me out, telling me everyone goes home at 5:00 unless they have to meet a deadline. Lindsay couldn't believe it when I called her at 5:10 and told her I was on my way home! After working at a large, national firm the past couple of years, this is a welcome change.

We're having...

A BOY!

We had our ultrasound today and the baby is clearly a boy. We had lots of fun getting a peek at the little guy. Jay said he looked like an alien. And the sound of the heartbeat scared poor little Rex. But they were really excited to find out they're getting another brother. Our due date is April 28th and we can't wait!

Jay's Birthday and Halloween

The boys had tons of fun on Halloween. Rex was batman and Jay was megatron, of course. They were tired of trick-or-treating after just 2 streets but got plenty of candy anyway.

Chad's Grandma Burton passed away recently, so we were in UT for the funeral when Jay had his birthday. It was extra special being with all of Chad's family to celebrate the big number 5.
He looks sort of grouchy in this picture, but he was just blowing out the candles on his transformers cake.

He got lots of neat presents but the hightlight was getting new transformers. Figuring them all out kept him pretty busy on the long ride home.
Happy Birthday Jaybo!

Happy Birthday Rex!!!

On Saturday we celebrated Rex's 2nd birthday. He got a bunch of fun toys and we went to McDonalds (his favorite restaurant).

preschool

Jay survived his first day of preschool. He was so nervous and kept telling me he wasn't going. But, he was a brave boy went anyway. When I picked him up he was all smiles. Success! His teacher is great and I think he'll have lots of fun this year.

Here's what Rex has been up to...yikes!

Tennis, anyone?

Jay is taking tennis lessons and he really loves it. He has learned how to do volley, forehand, and backhand shots.

He is also a great reader. Our library had a summer reading program and Jay read 45 books on his own. He got a gift certificate for a free kids meal at Joes Crab Shack as a reward for reading so many books!

Jay also just got a cool new bunk bed. He sleeps on the top bunk and his stuffed animals sleep on the bottom bunk.

T-Rex

A few days ago Rex fell out of the shopping cart at Target and landed on his head (at least that's what Lindsay told Child Protective Services). He got a nice little goose egg on his forehead and ended up with a shiner.

The good news is that his little injury hasn't slowed him down a bit. He is obsessed with any sport involving a ball, and he loves bowling, baseball, and golf. He is always throwing balls and swinging any kind of a stick.
