Summer vacation part 1

We spent the first half of our vacation in UT. Jay did a golf camp with Milo and Amy and loved it.  We played with Staci and her kids nearly everyday. We met up with Whitney and Ethan for a day in Salt Lake and saw Temple Square and rode the Trax. Kyle and Jeff kept the kids laughing and grandma and grandpa spoiled us with good food and lots of fun. Chad came on the weekend for the Lines reunion. We all went to lagoon for the day and had a blast. We don't get all of us together often enough.

Cousins

This weekend we watched my cousin's six kids. Yes, SIX! Our kids had so much fun with so many kids to play with. We are exhausted but we had a great time.

Cool Find

I was browsing through an old (2nd Ed.) copy of The Great Apostasy I picked up from our ward in New Jersey when I noticed it included a list of all of the missions at the time, complete with addresses.

Summer is here!

This week the big boys started swimming  lessons. They are both doing great and are getting much more independent in the water. We also acted like tourists and went down to the strip. We saw the Bellagio conservatory and the big fish tank at Caesar's Palace. We hate fighting the crowds but at least we can check the strip off of our summer to do list.

Countdown to summer break

We are nearing the end of the school year. Rex had his preschool graduation recently. He did so well this year. He is reading like a champ and is our math genius. He is excited to start kindergarten with all of his friends in the fall. Jay won every school award he could at his awards assembly this morning. He willed himself to be healthy all year so he could get the perfect attendance award. He also made the straight A honor roll, got a citizenship award, and won the mileage award for PE for the most laps in his grade. He's just a bit of an overachiever. We are so proud of our kids and are looking forward to a fun summer!

Adventures in gardening

Our new place has a grow box in the back yard so we thought we'd try our hand at gardening in the desert. So far it's gone pretty good. We've got some cucumbers, some kind I mystery peppers that were supposed to be bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, jalepeno peppers, and several types of herbs. It's been a fun family project. Our only hiccup so far has been that tomatoes were invaded by hornworms but the boys have been good little exterminators. We're crossing our fingers that our plants keep thriving when the super hot weather hits next week.

Eli turned 3!

Eli turned 3 on April 23rd. We just had a little family party for him. His main gift was a new bike. He's already riding it like a champ. Eli's favorite things right now are "gums", toothpaste, candy canes, and mints. He's got a thing for mint. Weird. Our other kids always thought it was too spicy. He loves music and loves when the songs he knows come on the radio. He loves to make us smile and we're so glad he's part of our family!
