Countdown to summer break

We are nearing the end of the school year. Rex had his preschool graduation recently. He did so well this year. He is reading like a champ and is our math genius. He is excited to start kindergarten with all of his friends in the fall. Jay won every school award he could at his awards assembly this morning. He willed himself to be healthy all year so he could get the perfect attendance award. He also made the straight A honor roll, got a citizenship award, and won the mileage award for PE for the most laps in his grade. He's just a bit of an overachiever. We are so proud of our kids and are looking forward to a fun summer!

Adventures in gardening

Our new place has a grow box in the back yard so we thought we'd try our hand at gardening in the desert. So far it's gone pretty good. We've got some cucumbers, some kind I mystery peppers that were supposed to be bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, jalepeno peppers, and several types of herbs. It's been a fun family project. Our only hiccup so far has been that tomatoes were invaded by hornworms but the boys have been good little exterminators. We're crossing our fingers that our plants keep thriving when the super hot weather hits next week.

Eli turned 3!

Eli turned 3 on April 23rd. We just had a little family party for him. His main gift was a new bike. He's already riding it like a champ. Eli's favorite things right now are "gums", toothpaste, candy canes, and mints. He's got a thing for mint. Weird. Our other kids always thought it was too spicy. He loves music and loves when the songs he knows come on the radio. He loves to make us smile and we're so glad he's part of our family!

Happy Easter

Spring break

We've been pretty boring this year and have spent most of spring break babysitting for other people. So we decided to do something fun with our extra dinero today. We bought 1 year passes to our brand new discovery children's museum. The kids had tons of fun today and even got to see George Washington's actual dentures! But it was crazy madness since it is still new AND spring break. I think every kid in vegas was there today. We look forward to many more trips this year.

Park

Since there was no school and the weather was great we rode bikes to the park today. The only downside was waiting an hour for our friends to finally show up to play.

Christmas 2012

The big boys were so excited on Christmas morning they got us up at 5:30 to check out their loot. Eli woke up at a more reasonable time a couple hours later. The kids got lots of fun presents and most of what they asked for but the big surprise was a trampoline from Gwenny and Papa. They had no idea about that one. We've been having fun rotting our brains out with new video games, reading new books, playing with new toys, and jumping on our new tramp! We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

Recently

Here are some recent pictures from my phone. The boys begged to get scorpion lollipops on our way home from AZ last month. Jay got sick about halfway through without eating any of the actual scorpion. Rex gobbled it all up, scorpion and all. Gross! Eli is getting potty trained and doing really well. He just decided that he won't "go" anywhere but home. So that's been a little challenging. Jay won a reading award at school a few weeks ago. Our primary did a service challenge where the kids earned points for doing stuff around the house. It was nice to have them actually happy to help out for a week. And I think that's about it :)
