Family picture day

We HATE getting family pictures done. We all turn into grouchy monsters. Here's some pics I snapped today while we were at the park. My nice friend took our real pictures for us. Hopefully they turn out ok.

New phone

I got a new fancy phone and I'm hoping it will be easier to share what's up with us this way. Here are some recent pics of the kids. Eli has a hard time with naps lately. The poor kid passed out on the floor the other day because he was so tired. Rex wants to practice dribbling everyday now. Jay has attitude and doesn't want his picture taken very often. Grandma and Grandpa came to visit us and our new house last weekend but we failed to get a picture. We did get a picture of the fun lollipops Grandma got for the kids though.

I copied this post from Jay's blog.  It was so fun to see him in this competition.  The top 5 kids from each grade participated in the finals and it came down to the wire with Jay and a 3rd grader. The art teacher let the whole audience know that Jay is only in 1st grade and everyone was in awe. He got a huge round of applause at the end and he told us kids were congratulating him all day.  We are so proud of him. He gets to go to LA tomorrow with all the finalists.  What a great experience for him!

There was this program at school called the art quest. We have been working on it for about 350 days. The artists this year are Ansel Adams,Marc Chagall,Salvador Dali,Keith Haring,Henri Matisse,Michelangelo Di Lodovico Buanorotti Simoni,Claude Monet,Georgia O'keefe,Jackson Pollock,Pierre Auguste-Renior,Norman Rockwell and Henri Marie Raymond De Tolouse Lautrec.Heres what happens.A contestent steps up they show them a picture they have to guess which artist it is.If they get it right they go to the back of the line. But on May 17 I won 2nd place for the 950 kids in the entire school.Since i won I get to go to the J. Paul Getty art musem in Los Angeles! From 6 in the morning to 11 at night.

Eli is 2!

Our cute Eli turned 2 on April 23rd.  We let him pick out his cake and he chose strawberry with pink frosting.  Jay and Rex thought this was very uncool and girly, but they ate it anyway.  We had a little family party and went to McDonald's.  Eli is quite the trouble maker at 2.  His nickname at our house is THE DESTROYER.  He loves to pour things out, break things, empty drawers, play in the fridge, you name it.  We clean up after him a lot. He is starting to throw tantrums that aren't so cute.  He is learning to talk more and more everyday.  He loves to be outside. He loves to do whatever his big brothers are doing.  He is a happy boy that makes our home lots of fun and keeps us all on our toes. We love this little guy.

My friend took some pictures of Eli for his birthday.  They turned out so cute.

Baseball opening day

Today was opening day for our Little League. The boys had their team pictures done and got to be in the parade. It was freezing today so they were pretty miserable (by freezing I mean in the 50's). Rex is playing in T-ball this year and Jay is in AA. They've both been doing great in practice so far. We are excited for games to start next week.

It's going to be a busy season with two boys in baseball this year!

Night Night Eli

Eli likes to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star every night before bed. You can see that he tries really hard to talk but unfortunately we don't understand most of what he says. He sure is cute though.

Jay is 7!

We had lots of fun celebrating Jay's 7th birthday. We just did family stuff this year and had a great time

Not too happy about posing for a picture at King Putt mini golf.
Look at that cool cake! Jay wanted to decorate it himself. He used LOTS of sprinkles and it was tasty!

This present has entertained him for hours. He's already memorized an atlas we had of AZ and he wants a NV one for Christmas. He's going to memorize every county and city in the US eventually :)

He already has a record of 800 bounces in a row on his fancy new pogo stick.

He wanted to get Taco Bell for his birthday dinner. He only likes to go there because they have these yummy slush drinks.

Rex is 4

Rex turned 4 last month and had his first birthday party. He got to have a few friends over and we played some games and had cupcakes. Chad made up a treasure hunt with silly string for everybody as the surprise at the end. We thought it was such a great idea until some of the kids started screaming and were terrified of it...oops. Plus it was a pain to clean up. But Rex had lots of fun anyway and we're so happy he's a big 4 year old now!

labor day weekend

We've been having some computer issues and haven't been able to post for a while. We had a great time at the Butterfield Reunion over Labor Day weekend. It was nice to relax and enjoy being with family. Here are some long overdue pics.

Growing pains

We are so proud of Rexy. As you all probably know, he has had a little problem with sucking his thumb. He got to the point where he was only sucking his thumb at night, but we thought he was getting a little too old for this. We bought some stuff to paint on his nails to discourage him from sucking his thumb (it apparently tastes bad). He has now stopped sucking his thumb completely! A little while ago we were telling Rex how proud we are of him and asked him off-hand whether he misses sucking his thumb. He got the saddest look on his face and just broke down and started bawling his eyes out. Poor little dude, we hadn't realized how hard it has been for him to stop his favorite past time. After he settled down we told him that we would take him to the store to pick out a toy or a treat as a reward and that seemed to cheer him up. Now if we could just get Jay to stop biting his nails . . . .

funky town

We had some friends over today so the kids wanted to have a dance party. Jay loves the song Funky Town and plays it over and over. Eli loves dancing to it and this is how he always dances.

Jay had his Kindergarten program last week. It was about what the kids want to be when they grow up. Jay chose a banker, of course. He even picked out a special tie from DI that was green like money. He had to memorize and say a little part. We are proud of him and he did a great job.

Jay's baseball season is wrapping up this week so I thought I'd post a couple of pictures of that too. We've had so much fun cheering for him and watching him get the hang of it this year.

Rex and Eli haven't had as much fun at the ball park as we have. Rex is usually bored after 10 minutes and Eli is usually covered in dirt or strapped in the stroller. But they're little troopers for hanging in there all season.
